Choosing The Right Camcorder SD Card

Choosing the right SD card can be quite complicated. However, there are some simple rules of thumb you can follow to know how much film you can record on your SD card.

First of all, if we assume that you want to record in HD quality, a 16GB SD card will allows you to record about 230 minutes and a SD card of 8 GB will meet approximately 120 minutes.

Something that a lots of people forget about, is that if you also make use of still photo capability, it will reduce the time available for video recording. How much depends on many factors and is quite hard to tell. But, it’s important that you at least understand it.

Since the SD cards is quite inexpensive, I recommend that you choose the 16GB card. It’s not a big difference in price between a 16GB and a 8GB, but in recording time it is.
