A friend to the family bought not so long ago the Panasonic SDR-H18. He and his family was very happy with the camcorder except for one small detail. They could not transfer the recorded video to the computer.
Finally he came over to our house and asked me how he should do, because he was very close to throw the camcorder into the fireplace…
Well, to make a long story short, here’s what I suggested he should do to transfer a record movie from the Panasonic SDR-H18 to a PC.
First, Panasonic SDR-H18 is a camera that saves the movie on the built-in hard drive. In order to transfer the film from the camera, you will need to take out the memory card from your camcorder. Then you connect the camcorder to the PC through a USB device. Now the computer will hopefully start to mount the camcorder. If not, you may need to reinstall the drivers for your camcorder. These cd came with the box when you bought your camcorder but if you cannot find the cd, you can visit Panasonic’s Website and download the drivers from there. After you install the drivers, everything should work.
After this is done, then you only need to “click” on the “my computer” icon and copy the files (the movie files) to the hard drive on your computer.
